Two separate numbers, two separate failure modes
A dropper post has two specs that matter for fit, and they fail in very different ways if you get them wrong: diameter (how fat the post's shaft is) and drop (how far it travels up and down).
Diameter: bigger doesn't fit, smaller can be shimmed
Seatpost diameter is measured in millimeters, and the common enduro sizes are 30.9, 31.6, and 34.9mm. Your frame's seat tube has one specific inner diameter it was built around, and the post has to match — or be adapted to match — that hole.
If a post is physically bigger than the frame's seat tube, it simply cannot go in — there's no adapter that makes a fatter post fit a narrower tube, so this is a hard physical impossibility. If a post is smaller than the seat tube, though, that's a completely normal and shop-approved fix: a reducing shim is a thin sleeve that wraps the undersized post to bring its effective diameter up to match the tube. For example, a 31.6mm post can be shimmed up to fit a 34.9mm seat tube using a 31.6-to-34.9mm shim, sold separately from the post itself. This is everyday practice in bike shops, not a workaround of last resort — but it is an extra part and a small amount of extra fuss, so it's worth knowing about before you buy rather than after.
Drop and insertion depth
"Drop" is how far the post lowers from its fully extended height — common enduro drops run from around 100mm up to 240mm on the longest posts. A longer drop is generally desirable (it gets the saddle further out of the way on descents), but it comes with a real-world catch: a longer-drop post needs a correspondingly longer, straight, unobstructed section of seat tube to retract into. Whether your frame has enough room for a given drop depends on your frame size and its specific seat-tube length — a longer-drop post on a small frame size can bottom out against the bottom bracket area, or the collar can leave too little post showing for a safe, sturdy connection to the saddle rails.

The tool compares a dropper's diameter against the frame's seat-tube diameter. A post bigger than the tube is flagged as an error, since it's physically impossible to install. A post smaller than the tube is flagged as a warning that names the exact reducing shim size you'd need (for example, "31.6-to-30.9mm, sold separately") — not a blocker, just a heads-up that you'll need one more part.
For posts with 180mm of drop or more, the tool also adds an informational note pointing you toward the dropper maker's insertion-depth calculator. This is a deliberate gap, not an oversight: the app doesn't currently have a concept of frame size, and insertion depth is, in practice, the single most common way a dropper post ends up not actually fitting a given rider on a given frame size — even when the diameter is a perfect match. Rather than guess at a number it can't verify, the tool is upfront that this is one thing you'll need to check yourself.
